Our environmental goals:

Reduced consumption, water cycle

Investments in the company are not only aimed at increasing capacity, but also at protecting the environment. We have our own heat recovery and waste water treatment systems. Thanks to a closed-cycle, energy-recovery cooling and heating system, annual gas consumption has been reduced by 17%. Our water needs are supplied from our own wells. Thanks to our own wastewater treatment plant, established in 2015, we purify more than 350 000^{m3 of} water per year and discharge it into the Kapos river.

Thanks to the boiler house they built in 2020, we reduced our energy consumption by 25% per kilogram of meat produced, and their natural gas consumption decreased by 10% in one year, despite the fact that we slaughtered 10% more than the year before.

We are also planning to install solar panels, which are expected to cover 18% of our electricity needs by 2026.

30% CO₂-reduction, zero production waste

The company currently emits 0.18 tonnes of_CO2 per tonne of meat processed. Our priority is to reduce this by 30% by 2025 by improving energy efficiency. We also aim to further minimise waste from operations, looking for the necessary technological improvements over the next 3 years to become a company with zero production waste.

We were the first to have a by-product plant

We are the first meat processing and meat product company in Hungary to have a by-product plant. The by-product plant, which will be inaugurated in 2020, will enable the processing of slaughterhouse products from meat processing. The resulting system will allow for the on-site disposal and processing of up to 15,000 tonnes of waste per year. The complete system is currently expected to produce 2,300 tonnes of bone meal (for animal feed) and 1,300 tonnes of animal fat/oil (for the pharmaceutical industry) per year.

In Kaposvár the whole processing process

The entire processing (slaughtering, processing, maturing, packaging) takes place in Kaposvár, our aim is to ensure that the pigs we buy come from as close as possible to the place of origin and to shorten the supply chain, as this is the best way to maximise energy efficiency and minimise emissions from cooling and transport. This is why we give preference to suppliers within 200 km, and why we focus on delivering our products to the point of sale rather than to intermediate warehouses.

The brownfield investment, starting in 2020, will be implemented in phases while maintaining current production. The investment will use state-of-the-art technologies in production, energy and service units. This will also contribute to reducing overall_{CO2 emissions.}

In recognition of our environmental efforts, we received the Somogy Environmental Award 2020 from the Somogy Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

We are proud that in 2022 we became the first pork processing company in Europe and the second in the world to be green certified.
