KOMETA is proud to support the HUNOR Hungarian Astronaut Programme, a pioneering space exploration initiative that opens a new era in the history of Hungarian science, innovation and national identity.45 years after Bertalan Farkas’ historic space flight, Hungary is once again aiming for space with a new national research spacecraft. The mission will promote Hungarian scientific development, cooperation between countries and future-oriented education.
The mission will start in May 2025 at the earliest, during which Hungarian astronaut Tibor Kapu will spend 14 days on the International Space Station. During this time, he will conduct experiments at Hungarian universities, research institutes and companies using the unique conditions of microgravity and radiation in space – in fields such as medicine, microbiology, virtual reality, materials science and psychology.
In addition to conducting scientific research, one of the main objectives of the programme is to raise interest in space science and STEM fields such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics among Hungarians, especially the younger generations.
