The KOMETA team has been running around Lake Balaton again this year. It was a real team effort: the 11 enthusiastic team members even held monthly meetings and shared their training plans on an app. The Ultrabalaton is all about community, but they are all proud of the fact that they completed the distance in the time they set themselves, and some even had the best time of their lives.
KOMETA has a large number of runners, and for years the company has been the title sponsor of the local carnival running race, where many people run the half-marathon in teams. Last year, they thought big and participated in the Ultrabalaton as a KOMETA team. We asked them how they experienced the race in previous years and their preparations before completing the Ultrabalaton. Their answers were: “real team building”, “very good training in self and social skills”, “an inner journey, which includes the fact that sometimes you feel that it is a physical, emotional and mental rollercoaster”, “not always easy, but there comes a point where never again turns into positive”. New friendships can be made during the race, the atmosphere at the transition points is great, one team member even compares the Ultrabalaton to a marriage: ‘You are in a 24-hour marriage with your team members because for better or worse, in sickness and in health, you are together during the UB and you have to make compromises to survive the race’.
The 2024 KOMETA Ultrabalaton team:

They also took this year’s competition seriously: they shared their training plans on Strava, and met monthly to discuss where they were in the preparation process and give each other tips. The results were never far behind, as the team members racked up the miles. Everyone completed the distance within the time limit, and there were even runners who set personal bests.
KOMETA, as a sponsor of this year’s Ultrabalaton, offered games and gifts at the refreshment point of the Balatongyörök West – Balatongyörök East stage.
Congratulations to the KOMETA running team for their perseverance, enthusiasm and the many kilometres run!
