KOMETA and the Kaposvár Campus of the Hungarian Agricultural and Life Sciences University (MATE) signed a cooperation agreement. Technical engineering students can thus acquire practical knowledge within the framework of dual training. At the press conference following the signing ceremony, Giacomo Pedranzini, Managing Director of Kometa 99 Zrt., announced an investment of HUF 30 million, which will enable KOMETA to double its production capacity. KOMETA aims to become the most modern meat plant in Europe.

“And in a new facility using modern technology, we need not only trained food engineers, but also technical engineers. In one of the most modern meat processing plants in Europe, we need the best specialists, which is why we have a cooperation agreement with the university.”

Dr. Dávid Mezőszentgyörgyi, Deputy Rector of MATE, said about the cooperation:

“MATE is committed to providing KOMETA and companies in the region with well-qualified food and mechanical engineers for the long term. We plan to expand cooperation in other areas in the future.”

The event was also attended by Attila Gelencsér, Member of Parliament for the region, who hopes that the cooperation between KOMETA and MATE will increase the chances of young graduates staying in the region. Zsombor Borhi, deputy mayor of Kaposvár, also sees an opportunity for young people to stay, for which high-quality university education and the presence of modern companies are essential. József Móring, the government commissioner responsible for the development of the region, also sees the development potential of a skilled workforce, from which the whole South Transdanubia will benefit.
